The York Buzz

This is a new Regional MSBA Chapter. Its first meeting was held on April 13, 2009. Thirtyeight people came to this meeting and all became members. The meeting was in the Sanford Willard Middle School. In the first meeting the people involved voted in the club officers, adopted the Bylaws, set the rates for dues, and decided what topics they would like to learn more about. It was a very productive meeting.

Welcome to YCBA

Our meetings are presently being held in the Jr. High School Library, in Sanford. The clubs regular meetings are from 6:30 to 8:30 and on the 2nd Monday of each month. We will plan on having a Picnic and Open Hive in June. We will then have a few Open Hives there after until winter sets in. We intend to have a mentoring program for new beekeepers, so a new beekeeper has a more experienced beekeeper to confer with. For more information, you can contact Ray Salmon or Larry Peiffer. Our dues are $4.00 for an Individual membership in the York County Chapter. The dues or new membership can be turned in at a regular meeting or sent to the clubs Membership Director, Peggy Pride. She can be contacted at: peggypride@metrocast.net

Our first meeting was a huge success. We had 38 in attendance and 39 new members were made in the first meeting. Our next meeting May 18, will be about making package bees and nuc's survive. The last regular winter meeting will be held on June 15 and will be about Products of the Hive and Licensing. Joanne Romano will have the pleasure of being our first out-of-club speaker.
